"“Fantastic location”"   by minicooperdownunder

Enjoyed my stay here from the 18th March to 22nd March 2008. The hotel is in a fantastic location right above the huge MBK shopping mall which I am led to believe has something like 2000 small shops/stalls, a Japanese department store and huge food court. Stayed on the 16th floor overlooking the pool and wide open view of what I guess is best described as downtown Bangkok. The hotel isn’t new probably 15 years or a bit older and while it is well maintained it is showing its age in areas like the bathroom when compared to newer hotels. The room had everything you could want, decent sized closet, sufficient draw space, safe, fridge, TV with a reasonable selection of international channels, comfortable bed and being a bit older the room is on the larger side. The lobby and public areas appear to have been given a makeover and are pretty nice as is the pool area which has a huge pool for a city hotel with plenty of sun beds around it. As previously mentioned the hotel is in a great location apart from being above one of the biggest malls in Bangkok, it has undercover air-conditioned access when the mall is open from 10am to 10pm to the sky train station and above street access to the malls on the nearby intersection which saves having to cross one of Bangkok’s busiest intersections. Overall a really good hotel in an even better location.

It's good hotel and very well located for shopping and getting around the city. There is good access to MBK from the ground floor. They fill up fast so reserve early

Pathumwan Princess is a beautiful hotel, good service, high security, great pool, gym etc., and the convenience of the Sky Train and MBK shopping centre, Good location to everywhere alot classier that the Ibis, more expensive too! I have stayed there about 4 times and can highly recommend it.

I like the pathumwan princess It's expensive though. Hotel in joined to the MBK centre. Great shopping. Also close to the sky train. Basically you can stay inside the whole time, MBK has everything.

"“Great Location, Average Hotel”"   by brent_kate
Traveler Rating :
We were recommended this hotel from our travel agent as this was supposed to be THE hotel to stay in in Bangkok. First impressions were great - the lobby was great and we loved the juice and wet facecloths while checking in. We were pulled to the side and told that the hotel was fully booked and we were going to be upgraded to a Junior. Pretty impressed by this and were dying to see what our room was like. What a huge disappointment. The room was entirely average with extremely dated decor and furniture. The bathroom was styled in very 1990's heavy beige and white marble and the shower pressure was rubbish. We had previously stayed at the Amari Watergate in juut the lead-in room and it was 100 times better than a suite at the Pathumwan. The pool area was not much better with peeling paint on the decking and quite frankly, the pool area was really boring and old and we pretty much left not soon after we arrived. I was looking forward to a bit of pool time but this was not the hotel in which I would want to spend any time around the pool. Of course the location is amazing but I won't be rushing back the Pathumwan Princess anytime soon.

"“Perfect for shopping and easy to get to tourist sights”"   by SchultzDuo

The last stop of our Far East tour was 5 days in Bangkok for (what else?) shopping. We stayed at the Pathumwan Princess for the central location to numerous malls (MBK, Siam Discovery, Siam Square, Paragon, Central World, etc.) and proximity to the BTS Skytrain, which was a quick ride to the Central Pier on the Chao Phraya River where you could connect to the frequent boats upriver to all the main tourist sights. We were very pleased with all aspects of our stay and thoroughly enjoyed our time spent here. The buffet at breakfast was very good, although I drink coffee faster than the servers could refill it; the lobby cafe was a nice place to stop for a pastry and tea or even a light meal and the lobby was filled with the sounds of an orchestral quintet. Although it is possible to reach the hotel by public transportation, we arranged for a hotel limo, which was well worth the 1700THB that we paid for it. My biggest complaint about Bangkok was negotiating transportation costs...if you don't mid bartering with a tuk-tuk driver or following along on a map to ensure the taxi-meter isn't being wrongly inflated with circuitous routings, you'll love it. I like flat-rate fees like the hotel offered though. Honest and worth every cent. The room was very nice and we were pleased that they voluntarily offered to extend our stay a half day (because of a red-eye flight to Japan at 8pm). The porter who delivered out bags flipped out a map and wrote down hours of all the sights and malls for our info (BIG tip for him!) and the concierge was always informative and forthright. Some folks would prefer staying downtown by the river, but if you are going to shop, it doesn't get better than the Pathumwan Princess! This TripAdvisor Member:
